Our Story
Chef Enrico Manalo grew up cooking in the Philippines, where food is at the center of every family gathering. After training professionally, he went on to manage a restaurant chain in Malaysia, honing his craft across Southeast Asia.
In 2015, Chef Enrico brought his authentic recipes to Calgary, opening Tambayan at Kainang in the Forest Lawn community. The name says it all — tambayan means a gathering place, and kainan means to eat. This is a place where friends and family come together over home-cooked Filipino food, made the way it was meant to be.
Every dish is prepared from scratch using traditional methods and ingredients. No shortcuts, no fusion — just honest Filipino cooking served with generous portions and a warm smile.
